What is the CLA?

The Community Leadership Alliance program provides an opportunity for current & future leaders to become more aware of the dynamics of issues facing our communities and to expand opportunities for leadership. Each session will challenge you to increase your knowledge and become actively involved with community leaders.

CLA’s Mission Statement

The Community Leadership Alliance’s mission is to develop a base of informed and motivated community-minded leaders. The program’s goal is to build alliances to unify communities throughout Southwest Wisconsin.

How will Community Leadership Alliance benefit me?

Developed in 1999, CLA was initiated to address the need for committed and progressive community leaders. Through CLA, you’ll increase your personal effectiveness, acquire team-building skills and learn more about Southwestern Wisconsin; its heritage as well as its growth and its future. You’ll gain skills to access and provide for the needs of your community. You’ll discover where there are opportunities for your involvement and leadership. You’ll become a more valuable resource to your employer, your community and to Southwest Wisconsin.

Program goals:

Strengthen leadership and community networks in Southwest Wisconsin

Strengthen & develop individual decision-making and leadership skills
Develop an increased understanding of community issues affecting Southwest Wisconsin
Encourage the emergence of community leadership

When & Where does CLA meet?

Participants meet the last Wednesday of each month from January through June at sites throughout Southwest Wisconsin.

Who sponsors the CLA?

CLA is sponsored by the Platteville Area Chamber of Commerce in cooperation with the UW-Extension Community Resource Development in Grant, Lafayette, and Iowa Counties, and UW-Platteville Continuing Education.

CLA Alumni Association

The Community Leadership Alliance Alumni Association, now made up of over 200 influential leaders in Southwest Wisconsin, prides itself on strengthening community leadership, social and professional networking, and addressing critical Southwest Wisconsin needs.
